Munich: Air & Style Munich 08 canceled

The Air & Style company decided, that the Air & Style Munich 08 on 29th November 2009 in the Olympic Stadium will not take place. Unfortunately a sponsor (Nokia) cancelled on short notice and also because of the economic slowdown in Germany the event can´t be financed.

Blank Paper Studio (known from several Snowboardvids like 91 Words for snow or the organisators of The Red Bull Gap Session) is currently working on their new project "In Short".

This 16mm/ Super 16mm DVD production follows a truly conceptual approach containing 5 different short films on one DVD, mixing formats, genres, personalities and directors. In the works since March 2006 it will present a flow of visual and conceptual diversity whose goal it is to be unpredictable and surprising at all times giving the viewer a different interpretation and look on Snowboarding and its protagonists in each of the films within the DVD.
We are trying to ditch all rules on how Snowboarding films have to look in order to create something truly original and new in approach and execution. Mixing documentary directors with music video editors this project will try to be as diverse and refreshing as possible without losing the ambition to show top-level riding of well-known athletes.
This DVD will be Blank Paper Studio´s first full length release since "91 Words For Snow" and will only be available for purchase in selected shops and online-stores.

Now,I'm the first 6 hours in Shanghai. I my whole live I never had more chances to buy more watches, getting more massages, getting more hores...
One side effect of the whole China trip is that I also got the possibility to go ahead to Japan. This will be from the 24th of April until the 1st of May!!!
I feel too tired in order give you more details about China... maybe one of the next days.

China trip posponed

Due to the the "luck" of beeing only at the airline waiting list for the planned flight from Shanghai to Frankfurt, wii've postponed our trip to China.

Now we'll be from the 12th of April till 4th of Mai in China. The best at this whole thing is that wii can fly directly from our favourite airport - the Franz Josef Stauss Airport in Munich.

On friday me & my brother went shredding to the "Fellhorn" at Oberstdorf. But due to the weather chaos in Europe, there was really bad slope. In the morning very icy & after a view hours very squishy :( At one ice plate I lost contol over my board and crashed very hard. Fortunately I was wearing my helmet and my protectors, so I didn't cracked my bones & avoided a concussion. I only got some bruises & a quite heavy headache.

21st February 2007 - It was all set up: Freestyle snowboarding fans all over the world were eagerly looking forward to the 2007 edition of the Red Bull Gap Session. Added to that, a carefully selected group of top international riders was ready and waiting to push the progression of snowboarding even further than they did this time last year.
There was just one ingredient missing, and a pretty crucial one at that: the snow. The Olympic ski stadium of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany, the host arena for the Red Bull Gap Session, has suffered from poor snow conditions all winter long, much like the rest of the European Alps. It’s just one of those things we have to accept – the weather has played a cruel trick on us snowboarders this year, and one which has now also forced the cancellation of the Red Bull Gap Session 2007.
The warm weather conditions currently passing over Germany made transporting 35,000 cubic meters of snow to the stadium an impossible task. Even the eight snow guns within the ski stadium and the thousands of crossed fingers could not generate a sufficient quantity of snow for the kicker construction. And instead of building a gigantic kicker for the invited riders to attempt to break the world airtime record, event organizers have been faced with beautiful green fields and a distinctly late spring-like atmosphere.
Rather than scale down the event with a smaller kicker that would have been dwarfed by its predecessor, the organizers have reluctantly decided to cancel this year’s event. However, they’re confident that the Red Bull Gap Session will return with a vengeance in 2008, with the kind of kicker to stop you dead in your tracks. Until next year.

On the 10th of February 2007 „The Red Bull Gap Session“ will take place for the second time in the Olympic ski stadium of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Beside the initiators David Benedek and Christoph Weber top riders like Mathieu Crepel, Markus Keller and Travis Rice will challenge the super size kicker. David and Christoph will invite several more talented riders all trying to raise the level of airtime. The riders will gather one week before the contest to shape the kicker together and make sure it will look the way they want it to be. One day after the event you will have the chance to ride together with the pro riders in a special park-session on the Zugspitze. Don’t miss it!

Burton European Open January 20 - 27, 2007

European Open Laax, Switzerland- The Burton European Open, BEO, is the only Open Snowboarding Event in Europe, with freestyle competitions in the formats superpipe & slopestyle. Innovative Freestyle Snowboarding is a key factor of the BEO, constantly pushing the sport to new frontiers. The BEO is mainly all about bringing the best riders in the world – including Olympic Winners, World Champs & Snowboarding Legends – together with the very grass roots, kids & juniors from 8-18. So the event addresses both sexes & all age categories. Top 24 riders per format are invited & compete against 24 qualified riders from the previously held open contests. With over 400 riders from all over the world, the BEO takes a full week to complete it's contest riding, at the same time giving everyone the chance to go freeriding in between. The event venue is compact and easy accessible. Both superpipe & slopestyle are constructed on Crap Sogn Gion, very close to the mountain cable car station. Of course the evenings are filled with international live concerts & kick-ass parties in the Riders Palace, meanwhile a standard at the swiss resort Laax. Finally the organiser Burton & the hosting resort Laax are knowingly the leaders in their field. High competence & devotion guarante e a top level event!
All snowboarding events are free to the public to view.

For Right or Wrong

If you're unhappy with the snowless "snoboarding season" - it migth cheer you up, that Burton has released their new video "For Right or Wrong" for free at their website.

I also reccomend you to check the videos from some amateurs, which are located nearly to the KitersNET headquater. They may not be Pro's but they have earned some fat respect!

The first is Pro Vita from some Augsburger guys (which are motivated us for Lost in Trysil) and the second is Change 06 from "Die Ulmer" which are situated in Ulm and around Ulm.

The Snowboard D-Day, first ever European snowboarding day initiated by EuroSIMA -European Boardsports Industry Manufacturers Association - will open the winter seasonin different snow resorts next Sunday, December 17.

Authentic “open day”, the aim of the Snowboard D-Day is to enable the masses, from beginnersthrough experts of all ages, discover for free the snowboard culture and experience theexcitement of snowboarding during one day.

Professionals and volunteers of the snowboard scene will organize a full range of free activitiesto share their passion for snowboarding with a large public.

In the program: snowboard lessons, product testing, snowboard demos, contests,environmental awareness, concerts, parties and many other surprises…

Many European countries are already involved in the event: Italy, Spain, Germany, France,Austria, Slovakia, Switzerland, the UK, and even Japan would like to join the movement!!! The Snowboard D-Day will welcome Mathieu CREPEL, the first TTR World SnowboardChampion and 2005 FIS World Cup Halfpipe Champion. White Risk

Backcountry sessions, are the most impressive snowboard sessions. There are only you, maybe a view friends and the nature. But as impressive these sessions are, they are also dangerous, caused by avalances.

Don't become desperate. Thanks to SAAC (snow & avalance awareness camps) there's the possibility to be prepeared. At freek, 2 days, basic camps, you can learn how to minimize the risk. At the first day you will learn the theoretic part and at the second day you will go into the backcountry for the practical part.

Unfortunately, there are almost all camps full, only for the camp in St. Jackob (10. & 11. Feburary 2007) and Wildschönau (10. & 11. March 2007) are places at the waiting list. But thanks to their sponsors, they will add some extra places for the camps. Watch out the sponsor sites for the giving away of extra places: Soulcountry Tirol & MegaCard.

If you don't have luck with the waiting list or the extra places, check the interactive DVD White Risk form the Eidgenössisches Institut für Schnee- und Lawinenforschung (SLF). While playing the DVD, you can choose between the languages German, French and English. It costs only 19 SFr. plus postage.

Hopefully I'll get my place at Wildschönau, so I can blog someting about the learned experience.

Home Again

It's so f***ing good to be home again.

It was a fantastic trip, but it is also fantastic to be home again. Meet the nice people at your job and your friends, have a lot of new storries from your trip to Norway and also a lot of photos and raw video material (coming soon online).

As I'm still so tired I will blog the report later this week.

in two and a half hours our train to Munich will start in Memmingen. And then at 8:30 p.m. our plane to OSLO will start. After then (00:20) our 3 hours bus trip to Trysil will begin.

We also want to welcome Mr. Schunder from the Podwer-Rangers on board and hope he will as much fun as we will have.

from now on, kiters.net goes to web 2.0.

First of all, we switch kiters.net to english, so everyone can understand us.

As you may know that we're from the fuckin' south of Germany (the famous Bavaria), and we have a long way to the sea, and no optimal conditions for kiteboarding (and by the way, the winter saison will start soon) we'll also post about snowboarding, because we can almoust smell the snow and have only 30 minutes to travel to the alps.
